Refunds and cancellation
SplitStock does not currently accept payments of any kind. This page states that position plainly, and sets out the cancellation and refund terms that will apply once funded investing opens.
No payments are being accepted. There is no route for real money to enter SplitStock today. The app and the browser sandbox run on practice money against live market data, so there is nothing to refund and nothing to cancel.
The clauses below describe what will apply when funded investing opens. They are published now so the terms are available before you are asked to pay anything, rather than after.
Position today
SplitStock is pre-launch. We do not accept investment funds, we do not charge platform fees, and we do not operate a paid subscription. No payment instrument can be charged through this website or the app.
If you believe you have been charged by anything presenting itself as SplitStock, that transaction did not originate with us. Contact us at ceo@splitshare.tech and raise it with your bank as an unauthorised transaction.
In plain terms
Nothing to refund, because nothing has been taken. Keep this page bookmarked for when that changes.
Cancelling an order
Once funded investing opens, an order that has not yet been executed can be cancelled by you directly from your dashboard, and any funds held against it will be released back to your rupee wallet immediately.
Orders placed while US markets are closed are queued for the next market open, which means there is a window during which cancellation is available. Orders placed during market hours may execute quickly enough that no such window exists.
Failed wallet funding
If your bank is debited during wallet funding but the balance does not appear in your SplitStock wallet, the transaction has failed at the payment layer and the amount is returned to you. You do not need to request this.
- Detection
- Automated reconciliation identifies the mismatch and reverses the transaction. We aim to detect within 24 hours of the debit.
- Credit back to your account
- Once reversed, the time to appear in your bank account is set by your bank and the payment rail, not by us. Failed UPI and net banking reversals commonly settle within 3 to 5 business days.
- If it has not appeared
- Write to us with the date, amount and the reference from your bank statement and we will trace it with the payment provider.
Timelines for reversal of failed transactions are governed by RBI directions on the harmonisation of turn around times for failed transactions.
Rejected remittances
A remittance under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme can be rejected by the authorised dealer bank, for example on a document mismatch or where it would exceed your annual limit. Where that happens, the rupee amount is reversed to your registered bank account.
Cross border reversals pass through more parties than a domestic refund and take correspondingly longer. We will tell you the reason for the rejection and the expected settlement date at the point we are informed of it.
Executed orders
An order that has been executed at the broker cannot be cancelled or refunded. At that point you own the fraction, and exiting the position means selling it at the prevailing market price, which may be higher or lower than what you paid.
This is not a returns policy
A purchase of a security is not a consumer purchase that can be returned. Selling is not a refund. You receive the market price at the time of sale, and that price can be below your cost.
How to raise a request
Write to ceo@splitshare.tech with the date, the amount, and the reference from your bank statement. We acknowledge refund and cancellation requests within two working days and will tell you what we have found and what happens next.
If our response does not resolve the matter, you can escalate to the grievance officer named in our privacy policy, and thereafter to the relevant regulatory forum for the partner involved.
