About SplitStock

SplitStock lets someone in India own a fraction of a company listed in the United States, starting at a hundred rupees. This page explains why that is harder than it sounds, and exactly how far along we are.

Last updated 6 August 2026

The problem we picked

Plenty of people in India already know which companies they believe in. They use the products daily. What stops them owning any of it is not conviction, it is plumbing.

  • A single share of a large US company can cost more than a month of discretionary saving, so the minimum ticket is set by the share price rather than by what you want to invest.
  • Funding the purchase means a cross border remittance under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, with its own paperwork, exchange rate spread and transfer costs.
  • Holding a foreign asset creates reporting obligations at the end of the year, and most people discover this in March rather than when they bought.

The short version

The hard part of owning Apple from India was never picking Apple. It was everything between deciding and owning.

How we are solving it

We took the view that this only feels simple if the product, the movement of money and the record keeping are designed together. So we build all three rather than wrapping someone else's.

Rupees in, fraction out
You enter an amount you are comfortable with. The app resolves it into an exact fraction at the live rate and shows you that fraction before you commit to anything.
Real ownership, not exposure
The product is designed around actual fractional ownership of US listed shares held with a regulated broker. No contracts for difference, no synthetic index, no wrapper that tracks a price without holding anything.
A record you can file
Every filled order issues a certificate of fractional ownership carrying the company, the exact fraction, the amount in both currencies and the date. Foreign asset and gains information comes out of the flow rather than being reconstructed in March.
Inspect before you fund
The sandbox runs the whole journey on live market data with practice money. You can judge the product on how it behaves rather than on how this page reads.

Who builds this

SplitStock is built and operated by Splitshare Technologies Private Limited, a company incorporated in India in 2025 with its registered office in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Splitshare holds the intellectual property, the partnerships and the statutory filings. SplitStock is its only consumer product and it is built in house.

We are founder funded. That is worth stating plainly because it shapes the product: we are not spending an investor's growth budget on discounts that expire, and we would rather open in phases with the paperwork done than open early and apologise afterwards.

The parent company site is at splitshare.tech, where the corporate identity number, GST registration and registered office are published so you can verify us against the public registers.

Where we actually are

SplitStock is pre-launch. We are not a registered broker, not a registered investment adviser, and not a bank. We do not currently accept real investment funds or hold client money or securities.

Available now
The Android app, and the browser sandbox running the full flow on live market data with practice money.
Under development
The iOS app.
Not open yet
Funded investing. It opens in phases once the regulatory and partnership work is complete, and not before.

No manufactured urgency

We are not running a countdown. There is no reason to rush a decision about a product that cannot take your money yet, and we would rather you came back when it can.

Partners and regulation

We intend to operate as a technology platform connecting Indian residents with licensed partners, within the framework of the Reserve Bank of India's Liberalised Remittance Scheme. The intended partners are Alpaca Securities LLC, a broker registered in the United States and a member of FINRA and SIPC, for trade execution, and Alpaca India, regulated by the IFSCA at GIFT City in Gujarat, for cross border remittance and currency conversion.

These partnerships are being formalised and are not yet live. We say "intend" deliberately. Until the agreements are signed and the integrations are in production, describing them any other way would be a claim we cannot support.

The full risk position is set out in the risk disclosure, and the terms that govern your use of the site and the sandbox are in the terms of service.
